Montgomery, located in Powys, is situated in Mid-Wales and is only a kilometer from the English border, making it ideal for visitors who would like to explore the border area. The town of Montgomery is perhaps best known for its local castle, Montgomery Castle. The castle dates back to the 13th century, although there is evidence that the town has been inhabited since the Iron Age due to the remains of the hill fort that that can still be seen on the edge of town.
