There is a market held every week on a Monday and it takes over the centre of the town and this market is even bigger during bank holidays especially during May and August. The town also has a weekly market on a Friday and this is also a very big event. There is also a farmers market held within the town on the first and third Saturday of every month. On the second Monday in the month of October the Michaelmas Fair tends to take over and this fair lasts for three days and features a carnival.
The town of St Ives has a strong educational network in the form of a secondary school and three primary schools. The secondary school is known as St Ivo School and the primary schools are known as Westfield, Thorndown and Wheatfields.
