The town experienced the height of popularity during the late 2oth century. Visitors will find that the town can be easily accessed by car via the main roads. The town offers much to enjoy, including a large man made lake that is popular for fishing. There is also an 18-hole golf course in town that is popular with residents and visitors as well. Throughout the year there are several festivals held, including the Drama Festival and Victorian Festival. The National Cycle Museum has also become popular with visitors to Llandrindod as it contains a host of different cycle exhibits.
The Welsh town that is known as Llandrindod Wells is located within the area of Powys. The town is located within the historic boundaries of the area that is known as Radnorshire in Mid Wales. The town was historically developed as a nineteenth century spa town. During the boom of the twentieth century the town became the centre for the local government.
The architecture within the town has a vast array of buildings that dates back to the Edwardian times and also the Victorian times and this includes the Glen Usk Hotel and also the Metropole. There is an array of buildings that are designed in Art Deco style and these include two very striking garages that are known as Automobile Palace and also Pritchard's.
Visitors to the village may be a little disappointed by the lack of pubs within the town however a lot of the hotels have public bars that are open to members of the public. The largest hotel within the town is the Metropole. The Metropole is a three star hotel that features one hundred and twenty bedrooms, a leisure centre and also a swimming pool. The swimming pool at the Metropole Hotel was once an open aired pool and this was at a time when it was the only swimming pool within the town.
The large man made lake within the town is a very popular location for fishing and over recent years the lake has been used for model boating. The town of Llandrindod Wells hosts a walking festival within the Heart of Wales.
