There are numerous dining, entertainment and shopping venues situated throughout Farnham in addition to numerous accommodation options as well. If in the area, Farnham is well worth a visit.
Farnham is a small, picturesque English town that has an eventful history which is at stark odds with its tranquil surrounding, with its history more than amply detailed in the various tourist attractions of the town such as the Farnham museum.
No visit to the town of Farnham could ever be complete without a visit to Farnham Castle, and whilst castles are a common occurrence in England, Farnham Castle really stands out from the pack for its rich and engaging history. The Castle was already well-known (some cynics would claim notorious) from when it was first constructed, hardly surprising given that its then owner was non other than the grandson of William the Conqueror. William did not just conquer England but ensured that his legacy would live on and his name spoken for generations to come and whilst the castle has been destroyed and rebuilt anew throughout history, the influence that William had is still plain to see.
What makes Farnham Castle so interesting and unique is that for every time it was destroyed and then reconstructed, part of the original architecture was retained in addition to the building style that was used to finalise the construction work. This means that we have physical relics of historical eras gone by contained within the very walls of Farnham Castle, giving us an all important glimpse into the evolution and development of England and its history.
